Carpenter’s Helper
Position Description: Carpenter’s Helper/Entry-Level Laborer

Position Summary
The Carpenter’s Helper assists the Crew Foreman and fellow crew members with a variety of tasks on the job site, supporting construction, framing, and finishing work. This is an entry-level role ideal for someone looking to build hands-on trade skills and gain experience toward becoming a skilled carpenter.
Key Responsibilities
– Assist crew with measuring, cutting, and installing materials
– Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment on-site
– Set up and break down work areas, including scaffolding and ladders as directed
– Keep the job site clean, organized, and free of debris and safety hazards
– Perform basic tasks such as sanding, nailing, sweeping, and hauling
– Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times
– Learn and apply proper use of hand tools and power tools under supervision
– Support other crew members and trades as needed
Required Qualifications
– No prior experience required; willingness to learn is essential
– Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 100 lbs, standing, bending, and climbing
– Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
– Basic understanding of job site safety practices (or willingness to be trained)
– Reliable transportation to Decked Out headquarters in Tallahassee, Florida

Preferred Qualifications

Crew Foreman
Position Description: Crew Foreman
Department: Production/Construction

Position Summary
The Crew Foreman leads a crew of workers on-site, directing daily work activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to quality standards. This role bridges field labor and project management, translating plans and instructions from supervisors into hands-on execution. The Crew Foreman will be in constant contact with clients to ensure projects are completed as desired. Decked Out promises 100% client satisfaction, and the Crew Foreman is an integral part of this.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate with clients before, during, and after construction projects to ensure client satisfaction
- Supervise and direct crew members’ daily tasks, ensuring work aligns with project plans and specifications
- Assign work, monitor productivity, and adjust crew workload as needed
- Enforce job site safety protocols and OSHA compliance; conduct daily safety briefings
- Inspect work in progress and completed work for quality and adherence to specs
- Coordinate material, tool, and equipment needs; track inventory and usage
- Communicate progress, delays, and issues to the Project Manager/Superintendent
- Train and mentor crew members, including new hires and apprentices
- Maintain accurate time records, daily logs, and incident reports
- Resolve on-site conflicts and address performance issues among crew members
- Coordinate with subcontractors, inspectors, and other trades on-site as needed
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools, machinery, and PPE
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in construction, landscaping, manufacturing or relevant trade, with prior lead or supervisory experience
- Strong working knowledge of trade practices, tools, and safety standards
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, or work orders
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Physical ability to perform manual labor and work outdoors in varying conditions
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to pass FDLE Level 1 or 2 background check
- Commercial driver’s license
- OSHA 10/30 certification

Work Environment

Key Responsibilities
– Manage day-to-day office operations, including supplies, equipment, and facilities upkeep
– Serve as primary liaison between sales and production, vendors, and subcontractors
– Oversee office budget, expense tracking, and invoice processing
– Coordinate production scheduling, client meetings, and assist leadership with business goals
– Support onboarding of new employees
– Manage building permitting functions to include filing notices, acquiring affidavits, and maintaining online permit portals

Design Consultant
Position Description: Design Consultant
Department: Sales & Design
Reports To: Owner / Sales Manager

Location: Jacksonville, FL
Position Summary
The Design Consultant is the first face of Decked Out for homeowners in the Jacksonville area. This role meets with clients at their homes, listens to how they want to use their outdoor space, and turns those ideas into a custom deck, porch, or screen room design with a clear, accurate proposal. The Design Consultant guides each client from first conversation to signed contract, then hands the project off to our production team with everything they need to build it right. Decked Out promises 100% client satisfaction, and the Design Consultant sets that expectation from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Meet with homeowners on-site to understand their goals, budget, and style
- Take accurate measurements, photos, and site notes, including grade, access, and existing structures
- Design custom composite decks, railings, porches, pergolas, and screen rooms
- Prepare drawings, material selections, and detailed estimates and proposals
- Present design options and walk clients through composite decking, railing, and finish choices
- Follow up with prospective clients and close sales
- Coordinate with the Production Manager on scheduling, permitting, and job handoff
- Keep client records, notes, and project status up to date in our CRM
- Represent Decked Out at home shows and community events as needed
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in sales, design, or estimating in construction, remodeling, or outdoor living
- Ability to read and create basic plans and take precise field measurements
- Strong communication and presentation skills with a customer-first attitude
- Organized and self-motivated, able to manage multiple clients and follow-ups at once
- Comfortable with computers, email, and mobile apps
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel throughout the Jacksonville area
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of composite decking and railing products
- Experience with design software such as SketchUp, Chief Architect, or AutoCAD LT
- Familiarity with local building codes and permitting in Duval, St. Johns, Clay, and Nassau counties
- Ability to pass FDLE Level 1 or 2 background check

Position Summary
The Production Manager runs all field operations for Decked Out in the Jacksonville area. This role turns signed projects into finished builds, managing crews, schedules, materials, permits, and inspections so every job is completed safely, on time, on budget, and to Decked Out quality standards. The Production Manager leads the Crew Foremen, works closely with the Design Consultant on every job handoff, and keeps clients informed from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage the production schedule for all Jacksonville-area projects
- Lead, train, and support Crew Foremen and field crews
- Review each sold project with the Design Consultant before work begins
- Order materials and coordinate deliveries, equipment, and subcontractors
- Coordinate permits, engineering, and inspections with local building departments
- Visit job sites regularly to check progress, quality, and safety
- Communicate with clients about schedules, changes, and project completion
- Track job costs and labor hours against project budgets
- Enforce safety procedures and ensure crews use required PPE
- Complete final walkthroughs and make sure every client is 100% satisfied
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of construction experience, including 2+ years supervising crews or managing projects
- Experience with decks, outdoor living, or residential remodeling
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and engineering drawings
- Working knowledge of the Florida Building Code and the permitting and inspection process
- Strong organization, leadership, and communication skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel throughout the Jacksonville area

- Florida Certified General, Building, or Residential Contractor license
